Editorial Policy
How we research, write, verify, and update content on Gold Intelligence — and our standards for accuracy on financial topics.
Last updated: 2026-05-31
Our editorial mission
Gold Intelligence exists to provide independent, accurate, and genuinely useful information about gold investment to retail investors worldwide. We are not a dealer, fund manager, or financial adviser. We earn revenue through affiliate referrals and advertising. Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships — no dealer, fund, or advertiser can pay for favourable coverage.
1. Research process
Every article on Gold Intelligence is written using primary sources: official data from the World Gold Council, IMF International Financial Statistics, and individual central bank annual reports.
We do not republish or paraphrase other publications' interpretations. Where we cite a statistic, we link to the primary source.
For price data: live and historical gold prices are sourced from licensed commercial market-data providers. Prices reflect the international over-the-counter spot market (XAU/USD), converted to local currencies using European Central Bank reference rates. We do not publish the LBMA Gold Price benchmark.
Country-specific content (tax rules, dealer listings, regulatory information) is researched directly from the relevant government agency or regulatory body website and is marked with a "last reviewed" date.
2. Use of AI tools
Gold Intelligence uses AI language models (including Claude by Anthropic) to assist with research, drafting, and structuring content. We are transparent about this.
AI-assisted content is not published without human review. Every published article is checked by a member of the Gold Intelligence team for factual accuracy, appropriate tone, and compliance with this editorial policy.
AI tools are used to accelerate research and improve clarity — they do not make editorial decisions, determine what to publish, or override human judgment on accuracy.
Where an article has been substantively revised by a named human editor, this is indicated in the article's byline and metadata.
We do not use AI to fabricate data, invent quotes, or create content that misrepresents the state of gold markets.
3. Data verification
All numerical data published on this site is cross-referenced against at least two independent sources before publication.
Central bank gold reserve data is sourced from the IMF IFS database and verified against World Gold Council Gold Demand Trends quarterly reports.
Gold price data reflects the international OTC spot market (XAU/USD) as supplied by our market-data providers. It is not the LBMA Gold Price benchmark, and small differences from benchmark fixings are expected.
We clearly mark all data with a source citation and last-updated date. If our data differs from a reader's source, we welcome corrections — please use the contact form.
4. Review and update process
Data articles (central bank reserves, gold demand, price history) are reviewed monthly and updated when new official data is published.
Education articles are reviewed quarterly. The review date is displayed at the bottom of each article.
Country-specific content (tax rules, dealer listings) is reviewed at minimum every six months. Users should verify regulatory information independently, as rules change.
If we discover an error after publication, we correct it promptly and note the correction at the bottom of the affected article.
5. Independence and conflicts of interest
Gold Intelligence earns revenue through (a) affiliate referral fees when readers purchase from recommended dealers, (b) advertising, and (c) premium subscriptions.
Dealers who appear in our directory are included on editorial merit — regional relevance, regulatory standing, and user reputation. Paid placement is clearly marked as "Sponsored."
No advertiser or affiliate partner can influence editorial coverage. We have not received payment for any article, ranking, or recommendation that is presented as editorial content.
The Gold Intelligence team may personally hold gold or gold-related investments. This does not influence editorial decisions but is disclosed in the interest of transparency.
6. Financial disclaimer
Gold Intelligence is an educational information platform. Nothing published on this site constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
Gold is a volatile asset. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Investors should conduct their own research and consult a qualified financial adviser before making investment decisions.
Country-specific legal and tax information is provided for general education. Rules vary by jurisdiction and change over time. Always consult a local tax professional.
7. Corrections policy
We take accuracy seriously and correct errors promptly.
If you believe any content on Gold Intelligence contains a factual error, please contact us with the specific claim, the correct information, and a primary source. We review all corrections within 5 business days.
Material corrections to published articles are noted at the bottom of the corrected article with the date of correction.
We do not silently alter or delete published content to remove errors — we update articles and note what changed.
